So I ordered a synthetic arming sword to practice with the HEMA group and have a couple of observations as someone knew to the whole practice.Value Quality Price
Firstly, I ordered the Glow in the dark material because how could I not and first thing I have noticed is that its significantly more flexible than the white material, I don't know if this will pose an issue but I don't imagine it will. Just need to be more careful when storing it so that it doesn't get warped.
Secondly and most critically, you will see an option for a stainless steel pommel and I would argue its an absolute must! The purely plastic ones have significantly more weight in the blade, however slap that steel on the bottom and the next thing you know your cuts are gliding through the air with far more control, it makes it swing far more like the steel swords that I have swung and I absolutely swear by that little steel pummel. We used the Red Dragon sword for some years. They provide in my opinion the best choice regarding cheapness and closeness to steel trainers. Obviously steel hema swords are generally better, but they are expensive and require more protective gear. I have recently come back to hema after a time away. While I own black fencer products these swords are also well worth considering especially at the price. These make excellent introductory synthetics and twitch the adaptability and customisation options available throughout the range these are a wonderful tool. Me and my sparring partner use these regularly and the arming sword here is perfect for sword and buckler drills and sparring.
