Our Red Dragon HEMA Synthetic Extended Pommel is twice as long as our standard scent-stopper pommels giving an extra 6.5cm of grip. This allows for the bulkiest of padded gloves and provides a lot of extra torque in the blade! The Extended Pommel will convert your single hand sword into a Bastard sword and give your Longsword blade an extra-long grip.

It is made from a special blend of plastic and powdered metal to increase the weight beyond what is achievable with plastic alone. The threaded brass "supertorque" insert offers much better purchase than conventional inserts allowing for a tight fit.

Our Stainless Steel Scent Stopper style pommel is cast in the UK from premium grade stainless steel ensuring a lifetime of use with the minimum of maintenance. They can be used to increase the weight of your sword to something more similar to the real thing (especially if combined with our Stainless Steel Guard). The addition of a steel pommel brings the weight and point of balance closer to the hilt making for a lighter (feeling) and faster blade.

Our Red Dragon HEMA Synthetic Longsword Blades are manufactured from our own special blend of plastic to provide strong and flexible sparring blade. They are designed to flex along the last 1/3 of their length towards the tip allowing for much safer thrusting than with conventional wooden wasters or shinai. The blade/tang joint (traditionally a weak point) is reinforced by a high tensile steel rod running along the full length of the handle. This also removes any flex in the handle traditionally associated with plastic training swords. The edges are left smooth to prevent friction burns but can be roughened with sandpaper for a better bind.
