Our Full Mask Overlay by Red Dragon is designed for HEMA and adds an extra layer of protection to your fencing mask. The back of head protection features a series of articulated rigid plastic plates allowing for a combination of protection and mobility. The durable suede hood is padded to absorb impact from blows and features 4 ventilation holes (2 on each side) which provide excellent heat release without sacrificing protection. Features an elasticated chin-strap and adjustable webbing strap with Velcro attachment for a comfortable fit.

Using this with a large red dragon mask, I found it surprisingly difficult to fit, but it did go on. I do wonder how well it would cope with an extra large.Quality Price Value
The cover itself gives extensive protection, though there are thin weak points between the edge of the mask and back of head protector. Haven't had a problem with them yet, but I imagine if a strong thrust went there they wouldn't take much to pierce (though I can't think why a thrust should end up in the back quarters of your head if you're fencing safely).
The overlay makes your mask very warm and fairly stifling, but not to the detriment of being able to spar at high intensity as long as you condition yourself to it. My biggest problem is that it seems to increase the overall size of your head substantially, so any guards that involve having your arms or hands around the sides or back of your head become difficult. I'd say the trade off is well worth the extra protection, though.
