The prototype of our VG Padded Skirt was created in cooperation with the Vectir school from Gliwice. This gear is aimed at users looking for additional cover for areas which cannot be covered by a jacket.
Can be used by both women and men at any age. It is a universal product - suitable for any type of training.
The VG Padded Skirt model is fastened at the back of the waist, covering hips, thighs, and crotch areas. The whole thing is made of black material. The middle panel is movable and shorter than the rest of the product form, so it doesn't interfere with movement.
This gear is made from fabrics of 350N puncture resistance. This part of HEMA set is characterized by simple design, but also a good level of cushioning, meeting the standards of users searching for additional cover in crotch, hips, and thighs area.
A belt is mounted on the back with the use of a special metal buckle which eases the process of fitting the skirt to any size. This skirt does not hinder movement. It’s not heavy, so it can be worn even by the youngest HEMA practitioners.
- together with Plastron VG 350N it makes a perfect supplemental set, increasing the durability and number of Newtons in the most sensitive areas
- low weight is another advantage of this gear
History of a tasset
Depending on needs, the tasset was made of canvas, leather, or – in case of knights – of steel. In the medieval period it was part of plate armor. Historical sources also present chainmail skirts of similar properties and wide fabric, quilted belts worn together with gambesons.

Good hip protection as it overlaps with your jacket.
Thigh protection is not great if you have long legs - recommend some good shin guards that cover the tops of your knees.
If you are male - don't substitute this for a cup, as it only a bit of fabric that covers the groin and wont stop a determined thrust or a blade coming from beneath you.
Overall - it's a nice bit of optional kit.
